Ray Hill began his career as a grocery clerk at Loblaws in 1976. Inspired by the need to be a voice for his co-workers, he became a union steward in the 1990s. As an activist, he wanted to stand up for workers’ rights, equality and inform members about the role of the union. Over the years, he has participated in several Loblaws negotiations and served as president of the former Trenton Division of the local union. In 2022, he was hired by the local union as a Union Representative. He said he is motivated by the satisfaction he gets when he helps ensure members are treated fairly and with respect in the workplace. Ray currently services a variety of workplaces, from hotels to grocery retail stores to restaurants and optical stores.
