The road to improving your working conditions and your future begins with union representation.

Individually, a worker has little to no power in the workplace. When workers come together through their union, they gain tremendous power to transform their wages, benefits and working conditions for the better.

Employers, for this very reason, often try to prevent their employees from joining the union because they want to maintain power and control over their staff.

Union representation empowers workers and ensures their voices are heard. You have a right to join a union and have input over your wages, benefits and working conditions and together with your co-workers, you can make sure that happens.

Here are some of the many benefits of being a member of UFCW Canada Local 1006A

Improved working conditions

Greater bargaining power to negotiate better wages, benefits, pensions and vacation

Strong Union Contracts

Protection against unjust discipline or management harassment

Scholarships and free online college accredited courses for you and your family

A voice for safe and healthy working conditions

Respect in the workplace

Overtime pay

Seniority rights when it comes to scheduling, vacation and job security

""I was working 40 hours and even though I was hired full-time, I was getting paid at a part-time rate. My Union Rep raised the issue with my new owner and helped make sure I got paid correctly for the hours I had worked."  –  Mark Zanin, No Frills.
