Members at Tok Transit have ratified a new contract.

The contract runs from February 27, 2019 to February 26, 2025. 

“This contract provides security in the long run,” said George Martins, a member of the bargaining committee. “The union did a good job of prioritizing the issues and bringing them to the table.”

Bargaining was led by Executive Assistant to the President Frank Ragni, with support from reps Joe Blythe and Ray Ramkhelawan and members Leo Colamartino, Tom Andrus, Martins and John Sedore.

“With this new contract, UFCW Canada Local 1006A has proven once again why we are the number one union for transit workers in Ontario,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Congratulations to our committee for their hardwork and commitment on behalf of our members at Tok Transit."

Highlights

  • Wage increases
  • Applicable break premium for Report/Cover driver who doesn’t receive break during shift
  • Increased time between end of one day’s work and the start of their next day’s work
  • Increase guarantee of hours (80hrs for 14 days) for full-time transit operators
  • Improved sign-up language
  • Driver training hours shall be considered hours of work for purpose of calculating overtime
  • Improved vacation language
  • Improved sick time language for full-time transit operators
