1006A continues to raise the bar in the hotel industry, most recently helping hotel workers at Hilton Garden Inn Toronto Airport improve their rights and livelihoods.
The term of the contract is from January 13, 2020 to January 12, 2024 and covers 60 members.
“1006A is making a difference and making life better for workers across Ontario, including our members at Hilton Garden Inn Toronto Airport," said President Wayne Hanley. “We are proud to congratulate our members and the negotiating committee on achieving this fair agreement with several gains. ”
Negotiations were led by Union Representative Daiana Dumitru with support from Union Representatives Rick Del Fiacco, Diana O'Brien and members Rosa Hinds and Logarathan Krishna.
“We were satisfied with the contract —most of the members were happy,” said Rosa Hinds, a member of the negotiating committee. “It was good to be part of the negotiating committee.”
Members work in a variety of positions, including Room Attendant, Houseperson, Laundry Attendant, Bartender Restaurant, Server Restaurant, Breakfast Attendant, Seater/Greeter, Cook, Kitchen Helper, Steward, Banquet Porter, and Banquet Server.
