Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A members at Residence Inn by Marriott- Mississauga Airport have ratified a new union contract with significant gains.

The term of the agreement is from March 1, 2020 to February 28, 2025 and covers 30 members.

“The union fought hard and won improvements for members at Residence Inn by Marriott- Mississauga Airport despite very challenging circumstances,” said President Wayne Hanley. “UFCW 1006A negotiators are showing why we are the number one union in Ontario for hotel workers.”

Bargaining was led by Union Representative Joe Blythe, with support from Mercy Walker, and Nelida Cortes.

"It was very difficult to negotiate a collective agreement in the hotel industry during a pandemic,” said Blythe.

Members work in a variety of positions including housekeeping, house person, gatehouse, laundry and shuttle driver. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, UFCW 1006A continues to advocate so our members will be in a strong position when the hotel business recovers.

Highlights
- Increase number of sick days
- Scheduling by seniority
- 5 weeks vacation language after 15 years
- Substantial wage increases.
