Your bargaining committee for No Frills negotiations has been appointed by President Pearl Sawyer.
Negotiations will be led by Local 1000A Executive Director Paul Docherty, with support from Regional Directors Don Taylor (Central Ontario), Roland Lapins, (Eastern Ontario) and members of the bargaining committee.
To ensure a broad and well-rounded representation of the No Frills membership, the committee is composed of members who work part-time and full-time in different No Frills locations across Ontario, having consideration for gender, activism in the union and geography. The majority of the committee is composed of rank-and-file members like yourself who will work with our team of experienced union negotiators to look after your interests at the negotiating table. Union staff also on the committee include Kevin Bacon, Carla MacFarlane, Bill Vantol, Ray Ramkhelawan and Jonathan Lobo.To increase our strength at the negotiating table, your union has undertaken a new project to build solidarity and activism at store level.
We are well underway in training 170 in-store communicators, many of whom are already activists or stewards in their store, to keep you informed about negotiations. The in-store communicators, with support from staff and activists, are currently working to improve our database of membership email and phone number contact information. As such, they have distributed info cards at your workplace so you can be kept posted on important updates about negotiations. A big “Thank You” to all who have provided updated information so far. If you haven’t had an opportunity to fill out an info card, you can also click here to update your contact information and we’ll know from that update that you are also requesting to be kept updated on your contract negotiations.
Negotiations are scheduled to commence on March 30 and 31, 2016 where contract proposals will be exchanged with the company and clarifying questions posed.
