Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

The advocacy of UFCW 1006A was instrumental in helping members at Sessions Cannabis in Hamilton achieve a first union contract.

“The union fought hard for our members at Sessions Cannabis to achieve a first contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I am thankful to our negotiating committee and members for their support throughout this process. The solidarity and unity of our members were vital in securing this contract.”

After unionizing in 2021, 1006A members faced a difficult road to achieving a first contract due to the employer’s actions which delayed the process. The union went through conciliation, mediation, first contract arbitration, and finally, received an awarded settlement last fall.

The term of the contract is from October 3, 2023 to October 2, 2026.

The negotiating committee included members Sebastian Paciocco, Ciara Smith, and Union Representatives Michael Hurley and Greg Penner.
