Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

After an intensive and difficult set of negotiations, including a final 22-hour session that went through the night, UFCW 1006A’s negotiating committee for Loblaws Great Food and Real Canadian Superstore reached a Memorandum of Agreement with the company at 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

Your committee fought hard to negotiate a historic industry-leading agreement which is fair and meets the needs of our 13,000 members at Loblaws Great Food and RCSS.

The support and solidarity of our membership helped the committee achieve this agreement, which sets the highest standard for grocery retail workers and surpasses all contracts in the sector.

Your committee is proud to unanimously recommend the tentative agreement. We believe we have achieved unprecedented levels and standards in a union contract.

Your union will be scheduling a ratification vote in the coming weeks for members to review the details of the Memorandum of Agreement. Please watch your email and union bulletin board for vote details, once they are scheduled. All information will also be posted on our website as well.

We are proud of the efforts of our negotiating committee, which includes 14 rank and file members, who were elected at proposal meetings held across Ontario in early October.

The committee also includes Local Union Executive Board members who work at Loblaws Great Food and RCSS, experienced union negotiators and union staff. The committee was instrumental in ensuring the voices and concerns of our members were heard.

We are thankful to our member liaisons, who continue to support the committee by informing and engaging our members at the 60 Loblaws Great Food and RCSS stores.

If you have any questions regarding negotiations, please contact your Union Representative.

In Solidarity,

Wayne Hanley (he/him)
President, UFCW Canada Local 1006A
