How do I find out who my Union Representative is?
As a member of Local 1006A, you can count on your union representatives to go the extra mile for you. With years of experience, knowledge and training, they are your ultimate resource in the workplace. Remember if you have any questions or concerns at work, contact your union representative. They are happy to help.
Where do I apply for a Scholarship?
UFCW Canada Local 1006A is proud to offer 42 Union Advantage Scholarships (worth $500 each) to our members and their dependents enrolled in post-secondary education. Applying is easy—just fill out our application online. You can also mail your application to our head office. Winners will be announced on November 15, 2016.
How can I update my contact information?
If you have moved or have a new phone number, you can easily update your contact information by filing out our short online form. This will ensure you get the latest information on your union, scholarships, contest opportunities and much more. We also encourage you to fill out this form if you haven’t been receiving your monthly union email newsletter or your union magazine.
How can I get involved in my union?
You can get involved in your union in many different ways. The best way to start is by attending union meetings & events in your community. Check your union bulletin board at your workplace or our online Event Calendar for the latest information on any upcoming meetings or events. Read more about our local union’s different committees to find out about the different ways our members participate. If you are interested in volunteering your time to be a union steward, please contact your union representative.
I want to join a union, who do I contact?

Who should I contact if I need help understanding my union contract?
Your union representative will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have regarding your rights under your union contract. If you feel the employer may be violation of your union contract and/or is not treating you fairly, contact your union representative and talk to them. They will be happy to help you.
What steps do I take if I think my employer is in violation of the union contract?
Immediately contact your union steward. If the steward is unable to help resolve your concerns/problems, you can also contact your union representative directly. Make sure to document the incident in detail.
