Local 1000A and UFCW Canada Local 206 merged on May 1, 2016 to form UFCW Canada Local 1006A.

IMG_1287Canada’s Wonderland was swept up in a sea of gold as hundreds of Local 1000A members gathered with their family and friends on Saturday June 23, 2012 for Members’ Day.

Members, decked out in their gold UFCW Canada t-shirts, came from across the province for a non-stop day of rides, all-you-can-eat food and attractions.

Melissa Munro, a cashier at Pepin's No Frills, helped bring out 35 participants, including 13 members, to the CAN (Community Action Network) event from Bancroft.

“It’s nice to spend one-on-one time with family and it’s a good opportunity to see fellow employees outside of work.”

Local 1000A Pearl Sawyer was on scene, meeting with many members.

“It was wonderful to see so many of our members with their family and friends at Canada's Wonderland,” she said. “On behalf of Local 1000A, I want to thank Diana O'Brian for her fabulous coordination of the event and all our volunteers and members for making the day such a great success.”

Michelle Chow, a packer from Kretschmar, came with her husband and two-year-old son to Wonderland.

“It’s relaxing for the whole family and we had a lot of fun.”

Diana O’Brien, a long-time activist who helped coordinate the event, said she was happy with how it turned out.

“It was a beautiful day that brought strangers and friends together through their union.”
