loblaws-superstore-greatfood-bargainingYour union negotiating committee is urging all members who work at Loblaws Great Food and Superstore to attend membership meetings scheduled from May 12 to 14 at various locations throughout the province. Wages, benefits and working conditions are at stake and your support and participation is critical to achieve a fair deal.

At these meetings, you will be provided an update on negotiations and will have the opportunity to vote on a strike mandate. A strike mandate is needed to make it clear to the company that we are united and we will stand strong and fight hard for a fair deal.

The meetings were scheduled following your negotiating committee’s meetings with the company from April 21 to 23. The committee is facing a number of challenges to achieving a fair deal and we are concerned about the slow progress of negotiations.

Your negotiating committee’s foremost priority is to achieve the best possible contract for you and your co-workers. But we cannot do it alone. We need you to be engaged and informed to assist your committee in reaching a fair deal for you and your co-workers. One of the most important ways you can help is by attending the scheduled meeting for your store.

Please check the list below to find out about the specific meeting times and location for members at your store. We strongly encourage you to inform as many co-workers as you can about the membership meetings and encourage them to attend.

“Help your committee to achieve a fair contract and to improve your working conditions by participating in the scheduled membership meeting and strike vote for your store,” said Local 1000A Pearl Sawyer. “A strong message needs to be sent to the company to show them that we are serious and committed to achieving a fair deal.”

Remember the more engaged you and your co-workers are, the stronger we will be at the bargaining table.
