UFCW Canada members, family and friends have raised more than $2,028,264 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada in the last 12 months. The achievement was announced on June 10 at the 22nd Annual Leukemia Gala, which drew hundreds of activists from across the country.
Local 1000A members were part of the effort, helping collect $50,000 for leukemia research through a variety of efforts. These included the local union’s annual golf tournament, Ride-for-a-Cure and several Community Action Network (CAN) BBQ picnics and events.
So far, UFCW Canada has raised $23,802,066 since taking up the fight against leukemia and lymphoma in the mid-1980s.
