Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

Local 1000A and UFCW Canada Local 206 merged on May 1, 2016 to form UFCW Canada Local 1006A.

LSL_Strike_MandateAt polls held from May 12 to 14 across Ontario, Local 1000A members working at Loblaws Great Food and Superstore voted 97 per cent in favour of strike action if a fair contract is not reached.

Loblaw is the number one grocery retailer in this country because of your hard work and sacrifice. The company needs to recognize the valuable role you play in achieving that success.

With your resounding strike mandate, you have made it clear to the company that you strongly support your negotiating committee in achieving a fair contract for you and your co-workers.

Your negotiating committee thanks each and every one of you who attended the membership meetings and voted and supported your committee in standing up for fair wages, reliable work schedules, benefit improvements and limits on third party providers.

We are calling on the company to invest in our members who have helped it thrive in a competitive grocery retail landscape.

The strike votes took place after your union negotiating committee broke off talks on May 5 when it became clear that the roadblocks to achieving a fair contract still remained.

Your unions, UFCW Canada Locals 175 & 633 and 1000A, are participating in solidarity bargaining. This means we have the power and strength of 28,000 members coming together; working at Loblaws Great Food and Superstores, Zehrs, Zehrs Great Food and Superstore and Fortinos stores across Ontario.

Negotiations are scheduled to resume on May 26, 2015.
