Wage increases and sick days were among the gains achieved in a new contract ratified by UFCW 1006A members at Courtyard by Marriott and Towneplace Suites in Oshawa.
“It is a fair contract for everyone,” said Sharmaine Atienza, a member of the negotiating committee. “The majority of the members were happy with the changes that were made.”
The term of the contract is October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027 and covers approximately 50 members.
“UFCW 1006A has a strong record of helping hotel workers across Ontario achieve fair union contracts,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Our negotiators are highly experienced and skilled, and dedicated to improving our members’ rights and livelihoods. I am proud to congratulate our members on their new contract.”
