UFCW 1006A members at Pantages Hotel in Toronto have ratified a new union contract.

The term of the contract is April 12, 2025 to April 11, 2028 and covers 40 members.

“Thanks to the power and protection of UFCW 1006A representation, members are achieving rights and improvements in the hotel sector,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Strong union contracts are a result of member support, participation and solidarity and I am proud to congratulate our members at the Pantages Hotel on coming together to achieve fairness at work.”

The negotiating committee included members, Rupeltia Damassia, Lily Rawat and Union Representative, Michael Hurley.

Highlights:

  • Wage increases of $1.50/hour for non-gratuity staff and $0.70 to $1.10 per hour for gratuity staff in Year 1. An additional 8 per cent in wage increases over the remainder of the contract for all staff.
  • Negotiated automatic gratuity of 15 per cent for restaurant and banquet servers working sponsored visits, meals and events
  • Improved bereavement leave
  • Improvements to the shoe allowance
  • Improved retirement benefits
  • Increased employer contributions to the benefit and pension plans
  • Improved language on doctor’s notes
  • Increased uniform entitlement
  • An extra week of vacation for senior employees and new vacation carry-over language
  • A reduction in daily checkout rooms
