UFCW 1006A members at Darling International’s plant in Dundas have ratified a new union contract.

The term of the agreement is from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028 and covers 45 members.

“I think it was a good contract, we got most of what we aimed for,” said Noel McEachnie, a member of the negotiating committee and the chief steward at the plant. “We had a positive outcome — most of the people were happy with it."

Draper said this is only the second contract for this bargaining unit, highlighting that each set of negotiations is an opportunity to build a stronger contract for the future.

The negotiating committee included members, Jeremy Draper, Ian Marshall, Noel McEachnie, Adam Peters and Union Representatives James Flowers and Dustin Magee.

“We are proud to congratulate our members at the Darling plant on their new union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Our negotiating committee’s dedication and hard work were vital in helping us achieve a fair contract.”
