After voting to join the local union last fall, UFCW 1006A members at the H&M retail store in Dufferin Mall have ratified their first union contract.
The term of the contract is from August 11, 2026 to August 10, 2029 and covers 26 members who work as Sales Advisors.
The negotiating committee included members, Brandy Branco, Alice Fu and Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Daiana Dumitru.
“Union representation is the first step in achieving a fair union contract which protect and improve workers’ rights,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I’m pleased to congratulate our members on their first union contract. Together, we established a strong foundation to build on for the future. With the unity and support of our members, we look forward to working together to achieve more improvements and gains in the future."
UFCW 1006A worked with UNI Global Union, which brings together workers from more than 150 countries, to petition H&M, a global multinational fashion retailer, to respect the rights of workers.
These new Local 1006A members join the hundreds of H&M workers already unionized with UFCW in Michigan, Florida and New York.
