Kim McCormick, a UFCW Local 1000A member who works at Brent's No Frills in Kitchener, speaks out about her union experience.

"My union rep, Kevin, is amazing. One day, I was talking to him about some concerns and questions I had about my pay. After listening and asking some follow-up questions, Kevin realized that something wasn’t quite right. He then asked me to send him more information.

Kevin took the initiative to look into my situation. He contacted the owner and the issue was fixed. It was great to see the owner and the union working together to resolve this issue.

Thanks to Kevin and our union, my pay got corrected and I ended up receiving more than $2,000 in backpay that I was entitled to. Thank you UFCW Canada Local 1000A for making a difference."

Hersham-and-Jackie-Web-FINALHesham Gergis, who works at a Loblaws Great Food in Ottawa, spoke out recently on his experience as a Local 1000A member.

"I have worked at a large retail chain before without a union and from my experience, I can say that having a union makes a huge difference. After working as a full-time bakery clerk at a Loblaws store, I got a job as an assistant bakery manager at another location.

When I faced issues with unfair treatment from management at that new location, I turned to my union for help. My union rep, Jackie, came to my store, supported me and resolved the problem. She cared about my problems as if they were her own problems and stood up for me. Thanks to the union, I was able to return to my job at my previous store.

I am thankful I had the union by my side."
