Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A joined more than 2000 junior masqueraders for Caribana Junior Carnival and Family Day.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A joined more than 2000 junior masqueraders in Malvern on Saturday, July 16, 2016 for Caribana Junior Carnival and Family Day.

The annual event features children and youth in Mas costumes. Participants ranged in age from 7 months to 16 years. The parade started at Malvern Community Centre and ended at Neilson Park. The Junior Carnival is a precursor event to the Grand Parade, which takes place on July 30.

President Wayne Hanley, who was at the community event with his family, said the local union is proud to support the Junior Carnival.

"One of our union's greatest strengths is the incredible diversity of our membership,” President Hanley said. "Community events like these are about celebrating our members and the cultures and traditions that make up our great country.”

Local 1006A participated and supported the Louis Saldenah Mas-K Club, which participates in the Junior Carnival and the Grand Parade.
