1006A members at Rowland’s YIG have ratified a new union contract with several gains.

The term of the contract is from February 25, 2020 to February 24, 2023 and covers 130 workers.

“I’m proud to congratulate our members at Rowland’s YIG for their solidarity and support in achieving a fair union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Once again, 1006A is showing why we remain the best union for grocery workers across Ontario. 

Negotations were led by Union Rep Kevin Bacon, with support from Regional Director Brian Reid, and members, Matt Fair and Erin Fenton.

Members at Rowland’s YIG work in a variety of positions, including grocery clerks, meat cutters, cashiers, HMR and other food service workers.

Highlights

  • Wage increases for full-time and part-time workers at end rate and above and those in progression
  • Shorter wage progressions for part-time
  • Negotiated increased employer and employee contributions to Health & Welfare plan
  • Gender Neutral Agreement
  • Increase Bereavement Benefit for Part Time
  • Increase Uniform Benefit
  • Scheduling for work on statutory holidays voluntary and by seniority
  • Part Time Members able to change Availability Every Month
