Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A continues to grow with workers from Kintetsu World Express voting to join the union family.

“We are proud to congratulate Kintetsu workers for their unity and determination in achieving union representation,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Our union representatives look forward to working with our newest members to achieve a fair union contract with their employer.”

The distribution centre is located in Brampton, with the 52 members working in a variety of roles, including: Shippers/Receivers, Shunter, Sanitation, Material Handlers, Forklift Drivers and more.

Key issues that led to unionization include: favouritism, improved overtime practices and job security.

“[The unionization process] was a great success,” said one member from Kintetsu. "We are very proud of the final result, and we are happy that we will be able to play a part in creating and executing our vision.”

Lesley Prince, Director of Organizing, commended the workers on their efforts.

"The knowledge and commitment from the workers ensured their unionization drive was a success,” said Prince. “It’s inspiring to see workers at Kintetsu come together for each other to create positive change at their workplace.”
