UFCW 1006A members at Residence Inn by Marriott in Mississauga (Southwest) achieved a new union contract.

The contract term is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028 and covers 41 members. 

“I like what the union did for us,” said Shirley Crasto, a member of the negotiating committee. “We were satisfied with the outcome. When members reviewed the agreement, they were happy with it.” 

The negotiating committee included members, Carolina Alvarez, Shirley Crasto, Myle Nguyen, Christian Ruiz, and Union Representatives Dustin Magee and Diana O’Brien.

“UFCW 1006A is proud to be the leading union for hotel workers across Ontario,” said President Wayne Hanley. “With our experienced and high-skilled union staff, UFCW 1006A continues to help our members in the hotel sector achieve gains and build fairer workplaces.”

Highlights

  • Wage increases.
  • Full-time: One floating holiday, to be used each year, increasing to two floating holidays in January 2025.
  • Shoe allowance: Full-time workers ($70 each year) and Part-time workers ($70 every two years).
  • Employer must now provide increased advance notice (24 hours) to cancel a shift.
