Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

Frontline workers are vital in keeping Ontario's economy running.

Instead of being recognized for their hard work, many frontline workers are facing increasing incidents of violence, threats and harassment from the customers they serve.

This is unacceptable. All workers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity at work. Your union is working tirelessly to keep our members safe.

1006A recently negotiated new language to protect our membership at Loblaw Great Food and Real Canadian Superstore from customer abuse, as follows: The Company will place visible signage reminding the customer of its "Zero Tolerance Policy."

It is the union’s position that the company is in violation of the language, as notices are being posted in areas that are not visible to the customers. In response, we have filed a grievance to hold the company accountable.

Nationally, UFCW Canada has launched a “Respect Frontline Workers" campaign to ensure workers' voices are heard.

Respecting frontline workers means: Listening to workers – their experiences of customer abuse deserve attention; providing workers with the knowledge to stay safe at work; and exposing what governments are doing to enforce the rules that keep workers safe.
