UFCW Canada's partner, Society for Queer Momentum, is organizing actions across Canada for a first-ever Rainbow Week of Action, from May 11 to 17, 2024.
UFCW 1006A and members of 1006OUTreach are proud to particpate in this week, which is dedicated to protecting 2SLGBTQ+ rights and freedoms amidst rising hate.
Your union will also be observing the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on May 17. A series of advocacy actions are set to take place to raise awareness and build solidarity.

Sobering Statistics
• 1 in 2 trans people experience sexual violence in their life.
• There has been a 64% increase in hate crimes targeting queer and trans people in recent years.
• In Sept 2023, Conservative party members voted by large majorities to officially adopt anti-trans policies.
• Anti-trans policies and legislation have been struck in Alberta, Saskatoon, and New Brunswick.
