UFCW 1006A members at the Family Services of Peel ratified a new union contract with significant gains.

“I think it is one of the best contracts we have had,” said Pauline Mathew, a member of the negotiating committee. “The union did a good job and people are happy with it. It was not an easy negotiation and I really appreciate the union staff for supporting us through this process.”

The term of the contract is from April 8, 2025 to April 7, 2028 and covers 24 members.

The negotiating committee consisted of members, Kritika Arora, Pauline Mathew and Union Representatives, Daiana Dumitru and Amanmeet Singh.

“I’m proud to congratulate the membership on their new contract and thank them for their support and participation,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Membership unity and engagement are crucial in securing fair union contracts. I also want to recognize our negotiating committee for their dedication in helping improve the rights and livelihoods of our members at the Family Services of Peel.”

  • Wage increases of 10 per cent over the term of the contract
  • One additional paid health and wellness day
  • Removal of the salary cap
  • Increase to mileage reimbursement and vehicle cleaning reimbursement
  • Improved language regarding sick leave accrual
