1006A members working at the Residence by Marriott hotel in Mississauga have ratified a new union contract.  

“It’s a fair contract and most members liked it,” said Mercy Walker, a member of the bargaining committee.  

 The term of the contract is August 27, 2025 to August 26, 2030 and covers 30 members. 
 
“UFCW 1006A continues to be the best union in Ontario for helping workers achieve improvements to their rights and livelihoods,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of our negotiating committee in securing a fair contract at the Residence Inn. I also want to thank our membership for their participation and support throughout this process.”
 
The negotiating committee included members, Louie Pineda, Mercy Walker and Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Greg Sibley. 

Highlights  

  • Fair wage increases. Members received between $0.95/hr to $1.71/hr on the date of ratification. In addition, members will receive additional wages increases of 13.75  per cent over the duration of the union contract
  • Elimination of the two-tier wage system and wage progression scales.
  • Increase to Sick Days (from 4  to 6)
  • Language protecting bargaining unit work
  • Sunset clause to ensure that discipline is removed from employee’s files in a timely manner
  • Minimum Wage Protection Language
