
UFCW 1006A members at the Talbot Manor in St. Thomas have ratified a new union contract.
The negotiating committee included member, Tracy Durnin and Union Representatives Joe Blythe and Greg Penner.
“UFCW 1006A is proud to congratulate our members at the Talbot Manor on securing a fair union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Together, we empower members across Ontario to negotiate fair contracts and to transform workplaces and communities for the better.”
Our members work in a variety of roles to help seniors, including as Registered Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers, Cooks, Dietary Aid/Servers, Housekeepers, Maintenance and Activation workers.
Highlights
• Wage increases (ranging from 9.5 to 10.75 per cent)
• Added paid sick days for members working full-time
• Negotiated a premium of $1 per hour for all hours worked or those assigned to Unregulated Care Provider work
• New clothing and shoe allowance for all workers
• Improved union representation language
