Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

Cannabis workers at Tokyo Smoke on Wellington Street in Ottawa have ratified their union contract.

The term of the contract is October 31, 2025 to October 31, 2028 and covers six members.

"I’m very happy with the union’s efforts on this new contract," said Jean Roy Niyongabo, a member of the negotiating committee. "Gaining more days to grieve and stronger language reinforcing human safety show that member protections were a real priority."

The negotiating committee included member, Jean Roy Niyongabo and Union Representative, John Conway.

“We are proud to be the leading union for Cannabis workers in Ontario, helping them achieve gains and protection in a precarious industry,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Congratulations to our members from Tokyo Smoke in Ottawa – your support was vital in helping us achieve a fair union contract.”

UFCW 1006A represents workers at multiple Cannabis stores across Ontario.
