
UFCW 1006A members at Home 2 by Hilton (Toronto-Brampton West) and Hilton Garden Inn (Brampton West) have ratified a new union contract.
“It’s a great contract,” said Vatisha Bernard Brown, a member of the negotiating committee. “The members were super happy, particularly with the gains we made.”
Brown said the members were pleased with the new paid floating holiday and the improvements to bereavement leave.
The term of the contract is January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028 and covers 35 members.
“UFCW 1006A is the best union for hotel workers in Ontario, with a strong track record of achieving fair contracts that meet the needs of the membership,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I want to recognize the dedication and hard work of our negotiating committee and thank our members for their support throughout this process.”
The negotiating committee included members Vatisha Bernard Brown, Zeshan Mirza, and Manivannan Ratnasothy and Union Representatives Joe Blythe and Greg Sibley.
