Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

UFCW 1006A members at Sysco (Buckhead Meats) have ratified a new union contract.

The term of the contract is from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2030 and covers 59 members.

The negotiating committee included members, Laura Dharangit, Aaron Grass, and Union Representatives, Frank Mensah and Tachani Bishop.

“I was very happy with the new contract, and most of the members were happy — the biggest reasons were the wage increases and the additional vacation time,” said Grass. “The wage raises provided better financial security, especially with te rising cost of the living. The extra vacation time gives workers a better work-life balance and more time to spend with their families. Overall, the new contract provided meaningful improvements that benefited both current and future members.”

President Wayne Hanley congratulated the membership on achieving a strong and fair union contract.

“Our negotiating committee did an exceptional job in ensuring workers’ voices were heard and securing a fair contract for our membership at Sysco,” said President Hanley. “I want to thank our members for their unity and participation. With their support, we were able to achieve strong gains at the negotiating table.”

Highlights

  • Wage increase of 12 per cent over the term of the contract
