Local 1000A’s Southwestern Retail Franchise Division has a lot to celebrate after raising nearly $540 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
“I was overwhelmed by the money we raised,” said Kevin Bacon, President of the Southwestern Retail Franchise Division and a servicing staff representative with Local 1000A. “Thank you to our stewards and activists who agreed to sell tickets at their locations and a big thank you to our members for supporting this worthy cause.”

UFCW Canada Local 1000A is proud to congratulate the Ottawa Retail Franchise Division for its hard work and dedication in raising $1,320 in the fight against Leukemia & Lymphoma.
The division undertook multiple initiatives last year, including a TV raffle, book sales, and a bake sale to fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. “All in all, we are very pleased and happy with everyone who participated in all these initiatives,” said Gord Knowles, President of the Ottawa Retail Franchise Division. “Without their support, we wouldn’t have been able to do what we did.”
Even the rain couldn’t keep Local 1000A riders from the third annual Ride for a Cure event.
Despite rain showers throughout the day, nearly 23 bikers and passengers took to the winding backroads of Southern Ontario to do their part to help fund a cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma on Saturday August 11.
