IMG_4690They came as prisoners, zombies, construction workers and much more.

Local 1000A got into the full Halloween spirit as staff and members, along with their friends and family, dressed up to Bowl for a Cure for Sickle Cell Anemia on Sunday, November 3, 2013.

The event drew more than 100 participants of all ages from a variety of workplaces and raised more than $2200 to fund a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia.

pride4UFCW Canada Local 1000A is proud to announce it has been named Local Union of the Year by the UFCW Minority Coalition for its work with many diverse communities.

“With more than 1,000 Locals in the UFCW International Union, our Sisters and Brothers at Local 1000A should be very proud of their efforts for receiving this very special acknowledgement,” says UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley. “This recognition says a great deal about Local 1000A’s outstanding leadership and activism, and their high level of commitment to creating the most dynamic, innovative and inclusive Local Union possible.
