UFCW 1006A members at the Courtyard by Marriott in Kingston have ratified a new union contract.

The term of the contract is April 21, 2025 to April 20, 2029 and covers 40 members.

“Hotel workers across Ontario are experiencing the UFCW advantage as our negotiating committees continue to achieve fair and strong contracts that raise standards for all workers in this sector,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I’m proud of our negotiating committee and our membership at the hotel for the significant gains they secured by working together. UFCW representation is creating fairer working conditions for hotel workers across Ontario.”

The negotiating committee consisted of members, Krista Whitman, Gwyneth Williams and Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Gloria Elstone.

Highlights

  • 13 per cent wage increase over the term of the contract
  • Increased vacation time
  • 2 new personal days
  • Additional paid statutory holiday: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
  • Increased lead hand premiums
  • Increased shoe allowance
  • Improved scheduling language for members who work part-time.
  • Improved bereavement leave
  • Improved break language
