373795_10151010971944597_1453152196_nLocal 1000A was among the million-plus revelers who took to downtown Toronto on August 4, 2012 to celebrate the city’s annual Caribbean Carnival.

Billed as the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America, the carnival is a three-week long extravaganza that features the glittering costumes, sounds and tastes of the Caribbean.

pride4Under clear blue skies, thousands of participants, including Local 1000A staff, members and activists, took to the streets of downtown Ottawa on August 26, 2012 to celebrate the Capital Pride Parade. Decked out in UFCW gold T-shirts, they danced and waved flags as they made their way through the downtown core.

 

IMG_0521With two towering red and white candy canes behind them, Local 1000A members, activists and staff spread a bit of holiday cheer at Milton’s annual Santa Claus Parade.

Members, including many from the Milton RCSS store, worked from early hours of the morning on November 18 to decorate the Local 1000A float, and then handed out candy canes and lip balms to the thousands of spectators of all ages and cultures who came out for the annual event.

IMG_2865With a bouncing castle, potato sack race, and an all-you-can-eat BBQ, UFCW Canada Local 1000A welcomed members to the London Family & Friends Picnic on July 6.

Members brought children and grandchildren along to the event at Springbank Park.
