LensCrafters-WebLocal 1000A members at LensCrafters locations in the Scarborough Town Centre and the Pickering Town Centre ratified their first collective agreements this week.

Gains included:

  • Guaranteed wage increases
  • No transfers without member consent
  • Members can no longer be scheduled to work less than four hours per shift
  • Guaranteed paid hours versus scheduled work hours (FT: 35 hrs or more per week; Regular PT: 25 or more hours but less than 25; Casual PT: less than 25 hours a week
  • Grievance Procedure
  • No Concessions

Wage increases and language improvements were among the many gains achieved by Local 1000A members working at Thunder Bay’s Real Canadian Superstore.

Ratified on October 13, 2015, the agreement covers 312 members at the store and runs from March 17, 2014 to March 16, 2019.

“We had an amazing negotiating committee made up of members who were the key to our success at the bargaining table,” said Paul Docherty, Executive Director for Local 1000A and lead negotiator. “They worked hard to empower and inform members and keep them engaged throughout the process. A big thank you to our membership - your support made a huge difference throughout this entire process.”

UFCW Canada Local 1000A members at Brandt Meat Packers fought back against major concessions and voted to ratify a new agreement with wage and language improvements.

The agreement runs from March 2015 to March 2019 and covers 67 workers at the Mississauga-based deli meat manufacturer.

Local 1000A Members at Dessureault’s Your Independent Grocer achieved wage increases and lump sums in their new agreement with the employer.

The agreement runs from August 19, 2012 to February 18, 2016 and covers 160 workers at the Gloucester store.
