Local 1006A celebrates Women's History Month

It’s a time for us to celebrate and recognize the contributions women have made to building our union, the labour movement, and our country. It’s also a time to reflect on the unprecedented challenges women face due to the pandemic. 

UFCW Canada Local 1006A members, activists and staff proudly marched through the streets of Toronto for International Women’s Day (IWD).

In March 8, millions of women and allies will take to streets across the globe for International Women’s Day to march for equality.

Samra Zafar’s story is one of hope and survival. At 16, Samra became a child bride through an arranged marriage. The 10-year-marriage was abusive from the start and took a toll, emotionally and physically.
