Joe’s first job was working as a dishwasher at Swiss chalet in London, Ontario. It was this job at Swiss chalet that helped put him through university and he worked there for over ten years. Joe first got involved as a shop steward in 2002. From there, in 2008 he became a member of the Executive Board. In June of 2011, he began to work as the union organizer for the Local and felt that he now had the opportunity to really make an impact in workers’ lives, fighting to gain collective bargaining rights for hundreds of the Local’s newest members. In February 2016, he began a new role as union representative and will continue to fight to defend workers’ rights in each and every unit he represents.
