
Cannabis workers are rising in Ontario, with workers from Sessions Retail Cannabis Inc. in Timmins, Ontario becoming the latest group to join the Green Wave and vote to become part of UFCW 1006A.

The Union Negotiations Committee held its first meeting on February 24, as part of the ongoing preparations for No Frills negotiations.

UFCW 1006A members at Marek (formerly Canada Catering) have voted for a new union contract with several gains, including wage increases.

Kevin was blindsided when he was suddenly informed by his employer that he was going to be moved out of his position.

“The majority of the voting population are workers like us, and we want to make sure working-class voices are heard by politicians,” said Emily Boyer, a union steward at the Whitby Superstore.

“It was a fantastic contract and the members voted overwhelmingly for it,” said member Mekonnen Geresin.
