UFCW Canada Local 1006A members working at Baton Rouge in Ottawa recently voted to ratify their first-ever union contract with gains for all workers.
Ratified on July 19, 2016, the contract runs from May 15, 2016 to May 14, 2019 and covers 65 members.

UFCW 1006A is welcoming stewards from across Ontario to our fall Stewards’ Training courses at the union office.

“The majority of the voting population are workers like us, and we want to make sure working-class voices are heard by politicians,” said Emily Boyer, a union steward at the Whitby Superstore.

“It was a fantastic contract and the members voted overwhelmingly for it,” said member Mekonnen Geresin.
